In the region of Croix-des-Bouquets, the village of Noailles is the heart of Haitian craftsmanship. A unique artisan tradition of ironwork has evolved in the west of the country. A multitude of craftsmen and artists have settled here.

A UNIQUE HERITAGE

Far from the beaten track, the visit to this cultural site is above all an encounter with the inhabitants who love to share their passion and experience. From workshop to workshop, visitors discover a world of creativity. The manufacturers at work welcome passers-by who wish to learn more about the blacksmith’s trade. The ornamental objects of the village of Noailles make wonderful, authentic souvenirs from Haiti.

THE ARTISTIC SOUL OF THIS CARIBBEAN JEWEL

In 2009, a museum dedicated to Georges Liautaud (1899-1991) was inaugurated in the village of Noailles. This Haitian blacksmith fashioned unusual crosses for the cemetery graves, as well as sculptures made from recycled metal. Since then, the art of wrought iron has become a Haitian tradition.
